THE ADDICTION COUNSELOR EDUCATION (A.C.E.) PROGRAM:
If you are considering a career in treatment services for substance use disorders, or if you are working in a related field, the program’s course work and practicum experience will serve as a valuable introduction to all aspects of the addictions field. Each course is designed to provide you with knowledge and skills required for working in the addictions field. If you are working in the field of substance use disorders and are not credentialed, you may need certification or licensure.  However, you do not need a college degree, nor do you need to be working in the addictions field, to participate in and benefit from the program.

Treatment agencies for substance use disorders are an important element in our nation’s health care delivery system. The Addiction Counselor Education program assists in the professional development of people wanting to be involved in this important and growing health care service field. All courses are taught or supervised by professionals in the substance use disorder treatment services field.

This program is available as a one-year certificate program or as individual courses (space available), with classes conveniently offered in the evenings. A Certificate of Completion is awarded (Westfield State University)  to those individuals who successfully complete the core curriculum in its entirety (six courses, pre-practicum, and practicum). Courses begin each September through Adcare Educational Institute at Adcare Hospital.
